New place same old me :)

Been really long (almost 3 years) since I wrote a blog.... have shifted to Hyderabad now....

The city is beautiful with its heritage, culture, food and the "cosmopolitisation" in the recent years... a good blend of localites and people from all over...good people in general.

Somethings have changed ..... in the sense... I am a father now to a lovely daughter... feel blessed :)

But more or less life is the same... maybe because the needs remain the same.... I still love food, movies, music, reading and catching up with friends... new and old... so whats the big deal in living anywhere....

I guess people have few basic needs which if fulfilled helps them "live" in the true sense of the word....happiness is now... not when you get a big car or a grand house.... if you wait.. you have missed the point.

I think these random thoughts that are popping in my mind makes me think.... what do we need at the end of the day to be happy.... if we really need to be happy (not greedy) .. I guess not much.. just a little bit of fresh air, food, and warmth of people around you... then it doesn't matter where you are... happiness is here.. if you see it.

What a weekend!

Ganpati Bappa Morya, Eid Mubarak and Michhami Dukadam to all!

Yesterday was a special day as we celebrated all the 3 ocassions on one day. 3 religions celebrated their fest on one day. I guess the Gods also want to be celebrated in oneness. Cliched it may sound but seems all Gods are one

Or was it a 3 in one type of offer from the Gods (cant help thinking this way since I am in retail for quite sometime now:)) You save on time, celebrate with more friends Hindus, Muslims and Jains and have triple the fun ! WOW!

Maybe we all want a single God, be hassle free from the questions that keep popping in the media on religion be free to worship whoever we want, God or Godmen ( Aaj Tak and Headlines today have made us beware of them). Chose your Godman wisely the channels said. Can we also choose our God.

All in all one God for all would be a nice idea :)

The rains, trains and the pains

Writing after quite sometime......

Mumbai rains always have brought good memories year after year.... though we crib about the rains and the pains we take to travel in the drenched city, it still has a charm of its own.

The warm whiff of wada paav and chai at the raodside stalls trigger someting in the brain cells that make us forget everything and go for that binge in the rains, never mind the reprimand that we get at home for not having dinner ;)

Theres something that keeps us going through all this.... something that makes us want more of these rains which you dont get in other cities of the country.... something that makes our day

It gives us moments of pleasure and a timely break........

Somedays back we had one with the Bharat Bandh and good rains in the city, I enjoyed playing the tabla at home with my wife for tolerating my ameture performance....
and ofcourse we had great snacks at bread talk with freshly baked savouries and garma garam chai (we couldnt find a vada pav stall anywhere then)

Sometimes life has to stop, should stop and thats what we need at times.

An uncalled stopover in the daily routine..... makes my day

Be inspired!

The other day, I was at a retail store (on visit) when I heard someone saying "Sachin ne do so mara!"

I got into the car and the radio was all praise for the Master Blaster. Reaching home, my wife was excited about the feat, some also mentioned on Facebook. I asked my wife whats the big deal about and then realised the facts!

For the next few days, I kept reading about Sachin in the papers and as usual was in awe with the genius. I always have regarded him as a legend. Nevertheless, all the articles inspired me.

Many such events are inspiring to us, sometimes even forwarded emails (one of my friends keeps mailing really good ones)

I guess we all need inspiration from events around us, they help us ward of the negative and accept the positive in the universe which helps us be better than what we were yesterday.

With the world around crying for saving the planet, better budgets, etc, we also draw inspiration from some events in life which keep us happy and going on.

The next time you bump into something like this......... be inspired!

Happy Anniversary

Welcome back to me!

Been out of action for sometime. But have something to share with you.

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary on 14th Feb! It was fun, adventure and loads of love at Ganapatipule, a beach near Ratnagiri.

Our trip started with "adventure". Our tickets didnt get confirmed and we rushed to the bus terminal after office. Paid an insane amount for an 8 hour journey in a non ac bus to Ratnagiri and finally were off at 11 in the night.

But it was worth the effort after seing the untouched beach. It had a calming effect and gave us a breather from the city.

The joy of being together with the beach was something we cherished a lot. And ofcourse there was good food and some shopping as well.

Marriage made us discover our own space and still be together, care not just for yourself but for your partner as well and above all have patience and give time for the relationship.

All in all, dont let the maddening pace of the city overtake your relationship. As its the only one you cherish the most!

Being together away from the city, from everything ........we cherished love!

Happy Republic Day

The very fact that we cry out that corruption is eating the roots of our country, makes me think who is spreading it in the first place. The politicians comes the answer, the police, the government etc.

Not the people? This calls for some thinking. The politicians are elected by us. We do have a say in elections.

Corruption is eating the roots, maybe something can be done at the grass root level.Maybe a simple resolve, a small step this year on a personal front can be a start. No I am not talking of entering into politics, but maybe we can make a small resolution to curb corruption this whole year (be less corrupt ourselves); by not paying the Rs. 50 "kharcha paani" to the traffic cop when he stops us for jumping the signal, but asking for a proper fine receipt and paying it, by not bribing the TC for not having a valid ticket in the train, by not bribing the system.

Liked the Tata tea ad which says "Log khaate hai kyoki hum khilate hain!"

Happy Republic Day.

I have bought a new car u know!

The other day I was in chat with one of my colleagues.... he tries to balance his work and personal life and is content with what he has got. An engineer from UDCT, he got into textiles and now is with us doing training (he likes to share gyan I guess) and also follows his passion for photography.

He mentioned of an incident where one of his batchmates spoke to him about his new Honda city.... the latest one which he bought for 11 lacs. My friend knew where he was getting to as he has delibrately not purchased a car for himself. Staying in Colaba it doesnt make sense to have a car and drive to office in Goregaon. Instead he got himself a scooty which he uses to travel around his house. Coincidentally his friend also lives in Colaba and has office at andheri. He got the car but cannot drive in the traffic. Then why did he get it, my friend asked him. I think we know the answer.

We become happy by material gains, by showing off. But this is temporary and we soon will hear the guy buying something else to make him happy. My friend is happy with his scooty and merrily shoots butterflies in his backyard. I saw the pictures and quite liked them (The ones you see here are his)

Guess we need to choose our path to happiness wisely.
